Yves Mary Jean is a father, husband, Haitian poet, novelist, public employee—and a proud Bostonian. His life’s work is rooted in justice, creativity, and community. From classrooms to City Hall, from open mics to organizing tables, Yves has spent years using his voice and his vision to push for real change in the city we call home.
A graduate of Bridgewater State University (B.A. in International Affairs) and Suffolk University (Master's in political science & international Relations), Yves combines academic knowledge with lived experience. He’s not a political insider—he’s someone who has lived through the struggles that too many in Boston still face, including the housing crisis.
Now, he’s running for Boston City Council At-Large to bring the voices of everyday Bostonians to the center of city government.
His campaign is grounded in three bold priorities:
1. Housing That Works for People, Not Developers
Too many elders and longtime residents are being pushed out of the neighborhoods they’ve built. Yves will fight to reinstate rent control, deliver real property tax relief, ensure truly affordable housing, and fight for policies that help longtime residents stay—not get priced out by luxury developers.
2. Elected School Committees – Bringing Accountability Back to the People
Our children deserve better—period. Yves will fight to ensure Boston families have direct control over school leadership by pushing for an elected school committee, bringing accountability to the heart of our education system.
3. A City That Works for Every Generation
From better transit access to senior services and safer streets, Yves will advocate for the things that help older adults live with dignity and independence. He will champion small businesses, cultural spaces, and community programs that keep our neighborhoods alive.
Let's win this, together.
Vote Yves Mary Jean for City Council At-Large.
As a poet, advocate, and candidate for Boston City Council At-Large, I’m here to listen and connect with every community. I believe real change happens through action and collaboration, making sure every voice is heard and valued in shaping a better future for our city.
